Sir:-
With reference to your letter of the 19th of
November 1909, I am directed by Secretary Sir Edward
Grey to inform you that the reply of the Government
of India on the subject of the American proposal to
convene a Conference at The Hague for the purpose of
discussing the question of opium suppression in China
has now been received.
I am to suggest that the informal inter-
departmental committec suggested by you might now be
held with as little delay as possible and I am to en-
quire whether Tuesday next, July the 12th at 3 p.m.
would be a convenient date for a Representative of
your Department to attend at this Office.
